Recyclability analysis enables packaging manufacturers and/or packaging companies to identify and improve the recyclability of their packaging, optimise their market positioning and respond to the demand for more sustainable packaging. For packaging to be considered recyclable, it must be collected, separated from the waste stream using the available sorting processes, processed and returned for use as a raw material or product.
There are currently different tools and methodologies to measure the recyclability of packaging that assess all stages of packaging recycling to obtain a quality recycled material.
We assess recyclability on the basis of the UNE-EN 13430 standard, which establishes the requirements for packaging that can be recovered by recycling materials, and ISO 18604, which establishes the requirements for packaging to be classified as recoverable through the recycling of materials.
GAIKER also carries out audits for the certification of recyclability or the evaluation of the compatibility of packaging design in accordance with the RecyClass methodology.
