Formulation, application and characterisation of organic coatings against specifications

The aim of this service is to apply and characterise coatings on different surfaces, expert analysis with proposals in the formulation and/or modification of the coating for its optimisation against the specifications. Thanks to this service, the customer can carry out a quick evaluation of new products, such as pre-validation, suitability for application processes and characterisation against specifications.

We offer two types of service:

1. Service for the preparation, application and characterisation of organic coatings:

  • Preparation and cleaning of supports.
  • Characterisation of physical and rheological properties of liquid samples (viscosity, levelling and sag index, density, contact angle / surface tension and affinity to the substrate, drying time, hiding power, particle size, etc.).
  • Manual and automatic application: roller, brush, rod, manual airbrush and painting of parts or pre-series in a pressurised spray booth.
  • Thermal and UV curing ovens.
  • Characterisation of dry films:
    • Physical-mechanical performance of the different layers (adhesion, hardness, scratch resistance, abrasion, chemical resistance, reaction to fire, etc.).
    • Aesthetic characteristics (colour, gloss, surface veil, orange peel, etc.).
    • Surface topography.
    • Accelerated ageing.

2 Pre-analysis of specifications for new product validation (application and characterisation):

  • Pre-adjustment of formulation prior to application.
  • Automatic spray painting (robot) of parts or pre-series.
  • Critical tests of the specifications.
