High-pressure tank reactor R1 and high-temperature tank reactor R2
Improvement of the spent cooking oil refining process for its transformation into biodiesel MEREFAC
Improvement of spent vegetable oil performance to obtain an improvement in the final product (recycled oil), for subsequent use as raw material for biofuel (biodiesel) manufacturing.
2008
Private funding from client.
Subject: biofuels.
Development and integration of technologies for integral energy recovery from microalgae. BIOMAQUA
Development of an aquatic biomass (microalgae) production system, which is not competitive with the production of food-based raw materials, designed specifically to produce renewable energy products and other substances of commercial interest using a highly sustainable and economically viable biorefinery-type integrated valorisation model.
2007-2009
Applied Research Project. Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
Subject: biofuels
Leader: Cidaut.
Development of a new and more efficient waste- and biomass-derived fuel for use in energy recovery. BIOREVAL
Energetic and cost improvements to current biomass fuels (meat meals) by incorporating end-of-life waste flows with a high calorific value for subsequent energy recovery.
2007-2008
Private funding from client.
Subject: alternative fuels
Development of technologies for chemical recycling of polymers from renewable sources and complex plastic compounds. TheReMix
Search of alternative sources of raw materials for the first Thermalysis plant built in Cerceda (A Coruña), focusing on complex plastic mixtures and polymers from renewable sources. The study of these residues appearing in the market and whose application in the chemical process of thermalysis has not been proven yet, allows us to analyse the possibility of applying this treatment to the waste that currently lack an alternative to landfill.
2007-2008
Private funding from client.
Subject: chemical recycling.
Advanced study of PET chemical depolymerisation by alkaline hydrolysis. PETRA
Definition of a recycling system for PET waste based on chemical depolymerisation, by alkaline hydrolysis, that is not influenced by the nature of this waste and that produces a final product that is adequate for further usage.
2007-2008
SAIOTEK Project. Basque Government.
Subject: chemical recycling.
Innovative catalytic processes in the production of biodiesel and in the valorisation of bioglycerine as a fuel additive. BIOGLICAT
Exploration of alternative catalytic processes to make a biodiesel production company more competitive from a technical, economical and environmental point of view.
2006-2009
Research Projects. Spanish Ministry of Education and Science.
Subject: biofuels.
Leader: Instituto de Catálisis y Petroquímica, CSIC.
New sustainable project for the production of biodiesel by heterogeneous catalysis. BIOCAHE
Development of a biodiesel synthesis process for the automotive industry (in compliance with the UNE EN 14214 standard) from spent or raw oils, using a solid catalyst (heterogeneous catalysis), thus reducing economic and environmental costs.
2005-2009
Private funding from client.
Subject: biofuels.
