Development of a photobioreactor prototype (PBR) with an optimised microalgae cultivation system based on two concepts: design of a PBR model where the morphology and/or materials optimise solar and other kinds of irradiation concentration with an artificial LED-based lighting system.

The goal of this project is the integration of technologies in the design of an innovative energy recovery process from microalgal species. For its development the following tasks have been promoted; selection of strains; optimisation of operating conditions; genetic modification; harvesting: filtration (classic, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, bag filtration), flocculation, centrifugation; other downstream processes: ultrasounds; oil extraction: mechanical, chemical (Soxhlet, SC-CO2...), transesterification to biodiesel, bio-oil conversion, pilot plant scaling.
